I am also planning to start a Nursing Registry, LLC once I get my EAD. However, I don't have much capitalization.

How much do you think is the minimum amount of money to get a business running with just one person - me - as owner/employee?

I've done a little research and got some info. like:

    LLC registration: US$ 500
    State Tax: US$800
Capital Expense: US$ 3,000 (own house using own computer)
Operating Expense: US$ 60,000 (salary, utilities, consumables) per annum

Is this correct? Any thing missing here?

    Thanks!

Latest update from shusterman about bridge legislation for schedule A:

Now, Senator Schumer is seeking to attach the Hutchison-Durbin Amendment to a piece of "must pass" legislation in August. For more information about the immigration of nurses and physical therapists, see "Nurse" page at

    http://shusterman.com/toc-rn.html

and "Allied Health Professionals" page at

    http://shusterman.com/toc-ahp.html

Hope they will pass it this time....
    Questions:
When will be the August recess?
Are there any "must pass" bills, good for such an attachment, scheduled in the senate before the August recess?

Till the new bill becomes law you'll be ok.

Those of you who got LC approved recently, did you apply to Chicago or Atlanta?
Thanks for the input. My labor was stuck in BEC. It was approved last september . I sent all the documents to my employer to file 140/485/ead/ap.He is still going back and forth on filing. MY h1extension got an rfe and he wants to wait for it to get approved and then file. I hope i wont retire before that. I am only 28 yrs short of that. When will we know the decision to the bill. I hope it passes so that he files my next stages. Can i file it with my h1 extension application pending.

I'm only posting a response cause my response is sad and funny at same time. No one's beat me yet???

    Came in Dec 1990
Been on various visas including F1 (grad and undergrad) and H1.
Didn't get to file GC till 2007 unfortunately...

Oh Man! You should be in your 40s now....And you are still waiting for GC. You must be knowing this. You will have to wait for 15+ years more for your DMAN GC!! By that you may have been retired.

I dont see anything about the law suit on OH site.
Can someone explain what "Temporary Restrain Order" would do if it were successful. It sounds to me that the lawsuit is asking the court to temporarily invalidate the July visa bulletin so that USCIS will be forced to accept the applications. Is this a reasonable understanding? Any lawyers here?

we need to write to Sen Joe Lofgren now more than ever..she will try to push the legal bill..also we need to write to her to compensate for some of the waiting time ...so that it gets counted for the citizenship..at least from when the I-485 was applied..I think we will see some sort of push for this ..my only concern is that we again will get caight with the illegals and our issue will be pushed to the side

Can some IV members in CA meet Sen Joe..?..and see what the Sen plans to do..

    time for some action now..

Everyone passes this stage. I was in the same boat sometime back and I did not think about applying for greencard.

When I reached 4.5years in my H1, my debts were not decreased. Infact it increased as I invested in India and in some tangile properties in US. So I thought I should stay here for more time to clear those debts. To stay for more time, I needed this stupid GC. It was needed atleast to extend my H1 to start with.

So my piece of advice for you is to start this process as it is not going to hurt you when you are mentally prepared to leave US. If you get it, it is good. If you dont get it, you have nothing to lose. At least you will the option to extend your H1 if you decide to stay for more time.

I am one of those guys who entered US in a very late age (I am 35 now...) and haven't even started the Green Card process yet. I wonder everyday "if" and when the process gets started..how many years it would take to get GC (may be 5 to 6 years..correct me if I am wrong)...and after getting the GC..wait for another 5+ years to get Citizenship...I will be close to 50...ouch

Well, as of today I don't feel like applying for GC...I realized my dream of coming and working in US...now the plan is to spend 4 to 5 years, clear my debts (yeah......running into thousands of dollars)...make some money to live peacefully in India..thats it....then go back to India....

And its not just the family or friends...95% of my cousins and 90% of my friends are in US (trust me it is a large number)..except for parents and in-laws (and uncles, aunts)...every one is here...but I hardly get a chance to meet them...b'cos no one wants to take some time off to meet cousins/friends (unless you are in drivable distance)..I don't blame them (or me)..since we all want to save our PTO to visit India....

I just wish..if I can spin the time wheel back...I would never think of a foreign country....(even though I am new to US..I spent about 8 years abroad in other countries already)..

I don't feel like concluding..hence leaving this incomplete...

    thanks for reading

    fairboy and friends,

Could you please tell me how to check an ad on the AJE website? Can I check the ad for my case using my case number? My case is stuck in DBEC.

    Thanks for your help.

Here is a bit of background. BEC's have been using a web site named 'America's Job Bank' (AJB) for posting job listings for cases that have not been converted to RIR. Effective 31st July AJB site is being discontinued and a new site named 'America's Job Exchange' (AJE) will become its successor. BECs have already started using this new site. Here is how to check if your job is posted or not:
    1. Go to http://www.americasjobexchange.com/seeker/jobsearch/keyword
    2. In the keywords field, enter the first few characters of your ETA case number. If your case is in PBEC and has a ETA case number such as P-xxxxx-xxxxx, then you would enter either Pxx* or xxx*. Do not enter any hyphen character and do not forget the '*' character at the end.
    3. Choose 'National' radio button and click 'Search Now' button.
    4. You will find a bunch of listings under the company name 'Team Exceed'. This is probably the company to which BEC cases have been outsourced for adjudication.
    5. Play around with different combinations of letters of your ETA case number. You may also click on 'Team Exceed' link on the results page to see a complete list of jobs posted by BECs.

vdlrao, Thanks ..good days are always ahead. can you tell me the reason for your optimism ? the problem I see is spillovers not going to EB3-I. at the very least they should have thrown some visas to EB3 out of pity :).
In fact that is the only hope ..i.e. other categories will be in 2006 while EB3 will be in early 2002 late 001 ..and to make it look better USCIS will give some visas to EB3-I. in either case do share your reasons ..TIA
as I mentioned in earlier post ..if EB3-I gets only the alloted visas ..that means around 30 families in a state gets a GC ..in most apartment complex(in the big cities) ..you will see more than 30 Indian families waiting for GC

Due to the lot of noice we have done, most of the law makers know theres a community called legal immigrants, and their long waiting periods due to the outdated rules. The new OBAMA government's agenda is to take the immigration reform during his first year tenure in the ffice. Once the immigration reform took place, I am pretty sure there would be significat changes in employment based category, which drastically decrease the backlogs in all EB categories.
In addtion to that "legals are first than illegals"- OBAMA. This itself is enough for clearing off all the backlogs.
